July continues Temple Square’s well-known outdoor Concerts in the Park summer series at the Brigham Young Historic Park where seven are scheduled for this month. In addition, two other concerts are set for the Assembly Hall, one for the Tabernacle and one in the Conference Center, giving a total of eleven July concerts.
Concerts in the Brigham Young Historic Park begin at 8:00 p.m. in July and are open to families and children of all ages (see below). The concerts in the Assembly Hall and in the Conference Center begin at 7:30 p.m. and are limited to persons eight years of age and older. The patriotic concert in the Tabernacle starts at 7:30 p.m. and is open to all ages. All concerts are free, though the Tabernacle and Conference Center concerts do require tickets.
Saturday, July 11—A patriotic concert featuring the Utah National Guard 23rd Army Band will take place in the Tabernacle. This concert is open to all ages, however tickets are required. For free tickets, call 801-570-0080 or order online at www.lds.org/events.
Friday, July 17—The Annual Pioneer Day Concert with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Orchestra at Temple Square will be presented in the Conference Center. For ticket information, visit online at www.lds.org/events.
Saturday, July 18—One Voice Children’s Choir, will present a varied program of original arrangements and patriotic songs in the Assembly Hall. The choir consists of children ages 4 to 18 from along the Wasatch Front, who are directed by Masa Fukuda, the composer and arranger of all of their music.
Saturday, July 25—Deseret Chamber Singers, under the direction of Rex Kocherhans, will sing in the Assembly Hall a program of sacred works and contemporary arrangements of traditional spirituals. The Deseret Chamber Singers consists of alumnus of the renowned Brigham Young University Singers.
In addition, 30-minute organ recitals are held in the Tabernacle weekdays and Saturdays at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., and also on Sundays at 2:00 p.m. in the Tabernacle.
Also, Mormon Tabernacle Choir rehearsals are open to the public in the Conference Center on Thursday evenings at 8:00 p.m., as is “Music and the Spoken Word” on Sundays featuring the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in the Conference Center when doors open at 8 a.m. and close at 9:15 a.m. for the 9:30 a.m. 30-minute broadcast.
